Cook turkey-Get tips for roasting the perfect turkey.
Prepare the turkey for roasting, first remove the giblets (and save for gravy or stuffing). Then rinse the bird inside and out and pat dry with paper towels.

If you enter a bird, loose materials, allow about ½ to ¾ cup of stuffing per pound of turkey.

Brush skin with melted butter or oil. Tie drumsticks with string (for stuffed birds only).

Insert meat thermometer into thickest part of thigh. Thermometer should point towards the body, and should not touch the bone.

Place bird on rack in roasting pan, and heated to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven. Use the following table to estimate the time required for cooking.

Bake until lightly golden skin, then cover with a tent of aluminum. Over the last 45 minutes of cooking, remove the aluminum tent to brown the skin. Spraying is not required, but helps promote even browning.

Turkey is done when the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F (75 degrees C) in the thigh.
